Lars van Wieren (1994) graduated from ArtEZ University of the Arts in 2016. His work consists of figurative paintings, mostly done in oil paint. Historical figures, the painter's own experiences and observations, as well as elements from popular culture like cinema, literature and photography are what fascinates him.
The painterlines of Van Wieren's work creates narrative snapshots, through which the viewer remains ever aware that what they are perceiving is a painted reality. In search of the most striking composition and exposure he creates a sense of mystery, pulling the observers into the image, inviting them to explore the hidden layers.
