"Nothing in science is an ancient true" is inspired by the american philosopher Pierce. Bestard re-elaborates on ideas from the pragmatism. In this particular painting he ponders about the spiritual side of the human being. Even when science is the "king" of our nowadays cultures, there are inputs that push us to connect with something beyond our understanding. Acts like kneeling, or praying, are something very ancient that science can not explain by itself.
"A rare combination of philosophy and painting technic. When looking at the work of Rafel Bestard we discover the simplicity of his compositions, poses reduced to short instants, sober and elegant, of concise colours, where characters are represented in strange hieratic poses. It is in that image where something happens, where our senses are put on alert, meaning appears to unsettle us, the beginning of a mystery that we would like to apprehend, that we would like to decipher and contain. However, the motive seems to elude us." - V. CastaƱeda
