This very young, originally Mexican, artist graduated in 2013 from the renowned New York Academy of Art. The following year he received a scholarship from this academy for a post-doctoral training.
Nicolas drew from childhood and still draws daily in the metro to and from his studio. He makes very detailed drawings of his fellow travelers with a color ballpoint pen. Because of this sublime technical skill, he is now a much sought-after portraitist and thus provides for his livelihood. In addition to these elaborate drawings, he makes colorful oil paintings with a much looser touch. The paintings often depict family members in everyday, recognizable situations. The suggestion of a frozen moment of someone in motion, as in a snapshot, is very convincing. High-contrast images of humans and animals in a fresh and clear palette characterize the work of this talented artist.
